What to know

Britax lists the Arbor infant seat on its own line at 6 years from the date of manufacture. Its serial label is on the underside of the seat, in between the harness adjustment slots. The StayTight infant base also carries 6 years, with its label underneath the StayTight handle.

The date of manufacture is on the seat itself. The date of manufacture (and on newer seats the expiration date) is on the serial label. Its position varies by model: underside of the shell next to the harness slots on infant seats, back of the seat under the tether hook on ClickTight convertibles, top of the ClickTight compartment under the cover on One4Life, the outside of the headrest on Grow With You models, and under the cover at the front corner on Highpoint and Skyline boosters.

Safety note: SeatCheck summarizes manufacturer and NHTSA guidance, but the label on your own seat and its manual are the final word. When in doubt, contact the manufacturer with your model and serial number.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the Britax Arbor good for?
The Britax Arbor has a useful life of 6 years from its date of manufacture. The exact date is printed on the seat's own label, so check the sticker on the shell or base rather than counting from the purchase date.
Where is the expiration date on the Britax Arbor?
The date of manufacture (and on newer seats the expiration date) is on the serial label. Its position varies by model: underside of the shell next to the harness slots on infant seats, back of the seat under the tether hook on ClickTight convertibles, top of the ClickTight compartment under the cover on One4Life, the outside of the headrest on Grow With You models, and under the cover at the front corner on Highpoint and Skyline boosters.
Should I replace the Arbor after a crash?
Britax follows the NHTSA criteria. A seat involved in a moderate or severe crash must be taken out of service immediately. After a minor crash, the seat can stay in use only if all five NHTSA conditions are met: the vehicle could be driven away, the door nearest the seat was undamaged, no one was injured, no airbags deployed, and the seat has no visible damage. If any condition fails, treat it as moderate to severe and replace the seat.
