Evenflo's expiration policy

Evenflo changed its policy at the start of 2025. All Evenflo car seats and booster seats manufactured from January 2025 onward carry a 10-year expiration from the date of manufacture. Evenflo says seats made before that date may have a different expiration, and the date printed on your seat is the one that governs.

For the older fleet, Evenflo's longstanding rule was 6 years from the date of manufacture for most seats, with extended-use models as exceptions: the Symphony all-in-one line, and the Transitions and Evolve 3-in-1 combination seats, expired 8 years after manufacture. The Revolve360 rotating seats were published at 10 years before the policy change, and Evenflo's Revolve360 Extend FAQ still states a 10-year expiration from the date of manufacture. Evenflo does not publish a separate figure for the EveryStage on its own pages, so for a pre-2025 EveryStage the label on the seat is the only answer.

Every Evenflo seat has the date of manufacture and expiration information on its label, so the safest approach for any Evenflo, old or new, is to read the label rather than assume the policy.

Where is the expiration label on a Evenflo seat?

The date of manufacture label, which also shows the model name, model number, and expiration information, is usually on the bottom, side, or back of the seat. On infant seats check the underside of the carrier and the base.

After a crash

Evenflo instructs owners to replace a car seat after any crash, regardless of severity. It does not apply the NHTSA minor-crash exception. Buyers of Evenflo Gold products also get an accident replacement program through the ParentLink consumer care team.

Flying with a Evenflo seat

Every Evenflo seat with an internal five-point harness is FAA approved; the label reads that the restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft. Infant seats fly without their base (the Shyft DualRide's FAA compliance label is under the carrier), and boosters without a harness cannot be used on aircraft.

If you own a pre-2025 Evenflo, do not apply the new 10-year policy to it. Evenflo is explicit that older seats follow the date printed on their own label.

Evenflo's ParentLink team (weekdays 8am to 5pm ET) can confirm lifespan and crash replacement for a specific model and manufacture date.

Safety note: SeatCheck summarizes manufacturer and NHTSA guidance, but the label on your own seat and its manual are the final word. When in doubt, contact the manufacturer with your model and serial number.

Frequently asked questions

How long are Evenflo car seats good for?
Evenflo seats manufactured from January 2025 onward last 10 years from the date of manufacture. Seats made before then mostly carry 6-year lifespans, with 8 years for the Symphony, Transitions, and Evolve, and 10 years for some late all-in-one models. The expiration printed on your seat's label is the one that counts.
Where is the expiration date on an Evenflo car seat?
Look for the white label on the bottom, side, or back of the seat. It lists the model name and number, the date of manufacture, and the expiration information. On infant seats there is a label on the carrier and another on the base.
Do I have to replace an Evenflo seat after a minor accident?
Yes. Evenflo's policy is replacement after any crash, even a low-speed one, because collision forces can damage a seat in ways you cannot see. Evenflo Gold seats include an accident replacement benefit, and your auto insurance will often cover a replacement seat as well.
Are Evenflo car seats FAA approved?
Every Evenflo with a five-point harness is certified for aircraft use in harness mode; the certification sentence is printed on the seat's label. Use infant seats without the base on planes. Evenflo boosters cannot be used in flight because they need a lap-shoulder belt.

Replacing an expired seat?

If your Evenflo seat is past its date, a current-generation replacement is safer and often easier to install.
