When do WAYB car seats expire?
7 years from the date of manufacture for the Pico, WAYB's only car seat.
Useful life: 7 yearsCheck your WAYB seat
WAYB's expiration policy
WAYB makes one car seat, the Pico, a folding forward-facing harnessed seat built for travel. Its useful life is seven years from the date of manufacture. The manual says it in warning form, do not use after seven years from the date of manufacture provided on the car seat label, and WAYB's safety standards page repeats the same figure.
Two versions of the Pico are in circulation, split by manufacture date, and they differ in fit rather than lifespan. Seats made on or after June 30, 2025 take children 26.5 to 50 pounds and 33.5 to 45 inches. Seats made before that date take 22 to 50 pounds and 30 to 45 inches. Both run on the same seven-year clock. WAYB also sells re-certified Picos, and that manual carries the identical seven-year rule counted from the original date of manufacture.
The Pico is harness only, with no booster mode, so there is no second lifespan to track as your child grows. Do not confuse the useful life with the warranty: WAYB's limited warranty runs three years, which is well short of the seven-year service life.
Where is the expiration label on a WAYB seat?
The date of manufacture is on the sticker at the base of the seat. The manual points to the label on the bottom of the car seat and includes an illustration that circles where the model number and date of manufacture print. The aircraft certification label is on the bottom of the seat as well, in red text.
After a crash
WAYB applies the NHTSA criteria rather than a blanket replace-everything rule. The manual reproduces the five minor-crash conditions and allows continued use only when all of them hold: the vehicle drove away, the door nearest the seat was undamaged, nobody was injured, no airbags deployed, and the seat shows no visible damage. Where any condition fails, or where you simply cannot tell whether the seat was damaged, NHTSA and WAYB both say replace it. WAYB asks owners to email help@wayb.com after a crash, and points you to your insurer for replacement coverage.
Flying with a WAYB seat
The Pico is certified for aircraft. Its aircraft installation section carries the statement that the restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft, and WAYB's safety page tells you the label sits at the bottom of the seat in red text, which is handy when a flight attendant asks to see it. Use the Pico only on a forward-facing aircraft seat, and route the lap belt through both belt guides. WAYB makes no booster, so everything the brand sells can fly.
The Pico folds down small and weighs little, which is why it comes up in travel-seat comparisons alongside the Cosco Scenera NEXT. The tradeoff is that it is forward facing only and starts at age 2.

Safety note: SeatCheck summarizes manufacturer and NHTSA guidance, but the label on your own seat and its manual are the final word. When in doubt, contact the manufacturer with your model and serial number.
